We put so much work into preparing to go catch fish, Learning how to catch fish, and we spend a lot to go get the fish! When you finally boat your fish what is your reaction. Mike Iconelli is the master of reactions when catching a fish. This is what makes it all worth it in the end. You gotta get excited and you have got to let everyone around you know! Don’t cheapen the whole thing by being modest and quiet. You owe it to the fish to yell and scream, at least a big smile. I promise you won’t look too stupid and everyone will enjoy having you as a fishing partner. It’s a big part of the whole experience.

The Legend of a Boat

The Mary J was the boat for fisherman. At one time the boat would drag 60 hooks for the hungry silver salmon. I can remember the diesel engine and the awesome auto pilot. I got to drive the boat into the marina once. These are memories that I will never loose so I ask: What does it cost to not go fishing?

Smoking a load of Fish

Talk about an addiction! Smoking fish has got to be the best way to prepare trout and salmon. The basics of smoking: Catch fish (the faster they are cleaned and filleted the better) Brine the fish: Make a brine with a 2 quarts of hot water then a cup of salt and a cup of brown sugar, then add your personal touch with whatever spices you prefer. Soak the fish for 24 hours after adding a couple pounds of ice to your brine. Remove the fish and rinse in cold water. Place it in your SmokeHouse brand smoker for 4 hours then switch the top racks to the bottom. Don’t oversmoke! Smoke is very delicious in the right amount. Three pans half full of chips is my recommendation! When the fish is to your desired dryness remove from the smoker and chill it out! Serve with crackers and cream cheese. This will make you a Legend with those you choose to share with. Be careful as you may become the equivalent to a Drug dealer as smoked fish is very addictive!
(This will make some excellent smoked trout! But I did leave a couple of small extra’s out that I’ll send you with a shirt purchase! sorry but I’m not that easy!)

Wiper Fest

Word on the web was wipers were Boiling. I accompanied a friend to the lake with his boat and gear. This usually turns out to be a bad situation but Marlon had a nice setup and his boat was fast. We chased wipers all over and fished hard. When fishing for these guys your practically hunting. You spot them, then sneak up on them in the boat. Casting as far as possible we would use top water lures and BAM! fish on!. These fish fight hard for their size and they were not bad sized. I would argue this is the funnest fishing ever.

Trolling by Sail

Want quiet smooth trolling? Use a sailboat! we picked up a few fish on our way to our destination while sailing. When we ran out of wind though we had to improvise for entertainment which led to this video.
